Terms and Conditions

1. Booking: A minimum deposit of 25% (non-refundable) is required at the time of booking. The full balance is required 30 days prior to commencement of the course.

2. Cancellation: You may cancel your course at any time by written notification (email). Cancellation will be effective on the day notification is received. Refund (less deposit) will be made only if cancellation is received 30 days prior to course commencement.

3. Personal Insurance: We strongly recommend that you arrange your own personal insurance at the time of booking to cover against personal accident, loss of property, cancellation, medical costs, repatriation etc.

4. First Echelon Insurances: Our yachts are fully insured against accidents and third party liability. Responsibility is not accepted for personal accidents, personal property, or damage or loss attributable to gross negligence or misconduct. First Echelon reserves the right to hold any student liable for any/all damage or loss resulting from gross negligence or misconduct.

5. *Cancellation by us: We reserve the right to cancel a course or your booking. If circumstances beyond our control dictate that we have to cancel your booking, then a full refund (including deposit) will be made. Beyond this First Echelon does not accept any liability for incidental expenses incurred. We will endeavour as far as is reasonably practicable to offer an alternative course which you may choose to accept in place of a refund. Such an offer, once accepted, constitutes a new booking subject to all the aforesaid terms and conditions. If, unusually, we need to make changes to the vessel, venue, departure point, destination* or instructor, this will not constitute a change in the conditions of the contract and changes to the aforementioned by us do not constitute a cancellation. *If, in the case of mile-building trips, channel crossings and longer passages, we have to make changes to the destination or route due to adverse weather, but are able to offer alternative sailing, then this does not constitute a cancellation.

6. Complaints: Should you at any time feel that a course is not meeting your expectations or you have a concern, it is vital that you bring the issue to the attention of your instructor in the first instance. Should the matter remain unresolved you should contact the Principal or Chief Instructor at First Echelon (info@firstechelonsailing.org). If the Principal is not been able to resolve the issue then you are free to contact the RYA Training Dept : RYA House, Ensign Way, Hamble. SO31 4YA.

7. Data Protection . This information will not be shared with anyone else, with the exception of the instructor and the RYA for purposes of certification and registration.
